During January of 2021, Tracey Porter and Marcy Langlois saw that the ongoing stress of economic uncertainty was not just impacting everyday people in their community, but that it was also having a major impact on the homeless population in Colorado Springs. Tracey and Marcy have faced significant hurdles in their own lives through the years and were fortunate to be surrounded by caring people who supported them when they needed it most. And now that they are financially stable, they see it as their responsibility to give back to others. So they developed and implemented a program that provides food and essential items to the needy, and offers work to food truck owners.
This idea not just helps the homeless but also helps the food truck owners by giving a boost to their business through the exposure they get as a result of their generosity. Food truck sponsors donate their time, their supplies, and their delicious food to our neighbors and in return, they receive a tax benefit from the donation they made.
Food Trucks Against Homelessness partners with businesses and individuals to provide meals, resources, and human connection to our houseless community. Our vision is that no one goes hungry & each person has the opportunity to become self-sufficient. We have chosen to partner with Westside CARES in this endeavor.
Each Monday, Food Trucks Against Homelessness feeds about 85 people in the Westside CARES parking lot. If you would like to partner with FTAH you can find out how you can help by visiting our DONATE page.
